Kasturi is the daughter of great Tabla Maestro Pandit Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay, of Benaras Gharana. She started talking taleem of Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal) at the age of four, under the guidance of K.G. Ginde. After her guru’s sudden demise she started talking taleem from VIDUSHI Subhra Guha. But nowadays, at present, she is talking taleem in khayal under the guidance of Pandit Arun Bhaduri and Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti and Kajri from VIDUSHI Purnima Chowdhury.

She has participated in at least 12 inter school competitions. She has already earned appreciation from music lovers as well as reputed musicians and out of those she won the first prize in almost all the competitions. Her recent achievement is in the year 2005 she went to FAME GURUKUL and got selected among the 14 contestant. But unfortunately, she couldn’t continue and had to quite because of her health problems.

  On 12th May 2007 she has been crowned TARAR SHERA in the first pan-Bengali (Indo-Bangladesh) talent search contest in TARA MUSIC’s ETO NOI SUDHU GAAN. In the same year in March 2007 she has got the NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP in Thumri and Dadra. At the beginning of 2008, she has been awarded the second prize winner in Thumri, Dadra in the ALL INDIA RADIO MUSIC COMPETITION. At present she is a General Scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy.
